The aim of the Visionary Concepts competition is to generate innovative concept ideas for
vessels and floating structures to meet the long term market and society needs. The competition
is being organised by WEGEMT as part of the Network of Excellence VISIONS (Visionary Concepts for
Ships and Floating Structures) and will be repeated annually. The most interesting ideas will be
validated by experts and presented to the Industry. The best 3 will be awarded with a prize sponsored
by the European Shipbuilding Industry
VISIONS is a project funded by the European Union which is tasked with generating and
assessing visionary concept outlines for vessels and floating structures which may be brought
to the market in the next 10 to 20 years. The participation in the competition and the related
work are not funded.
Objectives
The primary objective of the competition is to encourage the development of more innovative concept
ideas for vessels and floating structures and to identify the technological advances that will be
required to realize these concepts. More specifically the participant will have to address issues like:
How to increase market volume
How to increase European market share
How to minimize production costs or / and operation costs.
How to increase flexibility.
How to minimize life cycle cost.
How to use old or new technology successfully applied in other branches but not yet in shipbuilding industries, for achieving the goals described above.
Think in categories of Systems-Solutions and Systems-Optimisation instead of single Products even if the contribution considers just components.

Question:
Hi!
In the extended draft description there is a item adressing sources of additional information.
Are we to write this as an ordinary reference list, which then will be of considerate length, or is there another way?
Kind regards
Ship of tomorrow
Answer:
Indeed, it is a reference list (where it is needed).

Question:
Hi.
I unfortunately registered my team twice. Once as a contest participant, then as a visitor changing to a contest participant. My team members have registered using the team code to the latter team.
How should we go about to register the team members? Just register them again on this team code?
Answer:
It is recommended to deleted one of the accounts as well as one of the teams. To clarify this issue in detail please contact the webmaster Michal Czaplinski (michal@bal.eu)
